hhhmmmm... i guess im way little out of it - never really delved deeper into the inner workings of WM5 (i just assumed that it would be almost like PPC2002 to WM2003, WM2003SE)...

i guess lots of reading is in store for me...

maybe a little off-topic...

so much for having near-forward/backward compatibility in our investments, our software purchases... just like what happened between WinCE, then Palm-size PC, then PocketPC, then HPC, then....

hhhmmm... just to say, there is one thing i like about the PalmOS platform is that unless you did some unconventional programming (like system-specific hacks); your application should (i didnt use the word "would") with the latest version (well, up until OS 5.2, that is)...

does anyone, aside from me, see this as a little greedy for M$?

WM5 is more closer to WM2003SE for SmartPhone than to WM2003 for Pocket PC.

Windows Mobile 5 or any Windows OS for CE is twice more complex than the latest OS from Palm. Let's put it in this way.

i do release that complexity should rise with some sort of evolution - but couldnt they have created some sort of "emulation" in the OS, just like what PalmOS 4/5 have in regards to older apps?

considering the fact that the windows mobile team are independent from the desktop os group; just to note that even my MS-DOS 6.0 softwares still work with my Windows XP Pro SP2 setup...

:rolling:

aint it so that the WM Team are just so fickle-minded - change CPU --> apps then dont work, change OS --> apps then dont work, etc.

hhhhmmmm...

being a bit TOO off-topic for this thread, i "created" a new thread (for people who would choose to discuss this further):
