Never got a response from the Aximsite member I asked about the converter. My PM was read just never reponded, heh takes all kinds I suppose. So just an update to let the people who are interested know I ordered the "ADS Technologies TV Elite XGA TV Converter 1024x768 with Remote" from J&R Music and Computer World via Amazon.com It ran 87.53 shipped. Will let you know more of how it works out with video etc when it arrives, which should be Tuesday.

in any case, you can make it HDTV by means of using DVI/Component (720p/768p/1080i) or even HDMI, if you can find an aftermarket VGA+3.5mm to HDMI converter - but I doubt that would work since HDMI is based on firewire - and it requires a handshake both on the sender and receiver end in order to function...

p.s. nyditot will not do any adjustments on movies played back by betaplayer, as beta uses the i2700g native code to display the movies; whereas nyditot is a virtual hack for the GUI to display virtual 96dpi and pack it up to display in a 192dpi screen...

1. My complete setup is
Dell X50v >> presentation cable >> VGA to converter box cable.>>>tv elite vga box >>Svideo cable >>> TV

Software end: I switched Axim's screen to landscape, put it in mirror mode, press power + record and started watching with no other adjustments necessary using Betaplayer/TCMP.

The VGA to the ocnverter box is included with the TV Elite XGA as is the converter to svideo cable. All the the cables are impressively long.

Package includes:
6ft VGA to 8 pin DIN connector(vga to converter boc cable)
9 ft RCA to RCA cable(Composite) this is the yellow cable you ask about later.
8 ft Svideo cable
9ft audio cable. It has a y split so you can pass through to computer speakers or headphones along with the red(left) and white(right) RCA jacks.

Of course also in the box in the converter itself, a power tranformer and infra-red remote control.

2. What is your tv input? yellow, white, red cables?
Yep you can use these or in my case I use the Svideo cable.

3. how's the quality on the tv when you are playing a rather high quality movie with the touchscreen off ? is the vga converter fast enough to keep up??

I noticed absolutely no lag(just as I didn't when I turned off screen for VGA out) so yep it is fast enough to keep up. After reading some horrible reviews of converter boxes with such problems as mass under/over scanning along with flicker problems etc I am truly impressed with the quality. Everything I played on it has been high quality HDTV episodes(divx compressed) or Divx/Xvid movies etc with no conversion having been done on them for the PPC.

Glad I could help. Feel free to fire off any more questions you have and if you get this model or another model please waigh in on this thread with your own thoughts as I mentioned before it was strange the thread died as previously there was a lot of interest in VGA to TV or as commonly searched for Axim to TV threads. The other model I considered seriously was AVermedia Key Micro (1280) PC/Mac to TV Scan Converter
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...onics&v=glance

Both same price range and good feedback.

Other thoughts: Using bluetooth keyboard or finding software similiar to IRassistant to use the Axim's built in IR/bluetooth capabilies to have it work as a remote unit. I also need to dig a list up of all the hardware buttons for Betaplayer heh.

I`ve enjoyed following this thread, so well done Minlas.

Checkout this link which might be of interest to you:

I used to use Nevo on my iPAQ 2210, where it worked a treat. I`ve linked to PPCT rather than Nevo`s site so you can see comments made so far.

Edit: DO NOT BUY THIS SOFTWARE!! Turns out it was pirated from an iPAQ - Nevo have never released it.

Thank you Lost Cause. I am glad the thread is enjoyable. I meant controlling the Axim X51v /50v via IR or a bluetooth keyboard instead of using it to control something else. IRassistant lets you take any remote and set up a sequence/button to do a command on your PC as it records whatever sequence/button press you beam at it. So any remote will work with IRassistant as long as you have an IR receiver attached to PPC regaurdless what remote it came with. This allows you to set up custom buttons or choose whichever remote gives you the best range. Same concept with bluetooth keyboard have keys on it pause, rewind, fast forward, zoom, next/previous movie clip/media, volume up/down etc. on the PPC when it is hooked to a TV/LCD/CRT and is being used and a DivxV/Xvid player.

That is a good find (no knowledge on what the hookups for that model is), I may start looking for a durable/portable/quality and larger LCD to hook up to my Axim as well.
Hrmmm what would be nice... if it had its own power supply as wouldn't want something else eating away on Axim's juice. Maybe one that has a battery solution to power it since you don't want to be tied to a wall but has a power jack option in case you are around a little AC? Since it is a LCD VGA input shouldn't be a problem. Has to have a screen size bigger than the Axim's obviously but still portable 6-10 inches maybe? Some kind of stand so you can set it up at a good angle for watching.
