Ditto...10/03. Still though, I hate to have software shipped. I think HP has the right idea with the downloadable upgrade.

but for dell they had a bad experience with the downloadable upgrades....so thanks to all the people and illegal software world...we get to wait for CDs :)

I don't believe this is the reason. What stops me from ripping the cd as I get one?

It actually is the reason as before they released the WM2003 upgrade for the X5, and people were using dell to distribute it considering they made guides where you just went and downloaded the WM2003 rom, and bam, you could have WM2003 on your X5

It is a drawback, but it is a security measure and that one extra step of you buying it and ripping makes some people think twice considering now they have purchased it and it is their license

Even if the upgrade comes on CD, people could still rip it to an ISO or some other convenient format, upload it to some websites and there be little difference.

I'm almost sure that after the first sd's will be shiped you'll be able to download the upgrade from all sorts of illigal sources. Buying the sd was never the problem for those guys. Moreover, I bet it is already out there, as most of the time the companies or company workers are releasing the software for download...
