Hi folks. Been lurking on here for a few weeks now. Got my x50v a few days ago. It was actually bought at the beginning of the month with one of Dell's crazy coupon-stacking sales ($395 with the extra battery, WM5 upgrade deal, including additional BT keyboard and rhinoskin hard case; taxes too) but I'm not in the US and had to wait to get it from my sister in Florida.
Anyway, been playing around with a bunch of software trying to get the hang of this all - installing in proper locations; fine tuning applications; seeing what works for me and what I don't like or is redundant, etc.
After TONS of soft resets and one hard reset after I decided that it was time for a clean start, I think I'm up and running pretty well.
I have the following programs installed (most are trials, but I do admit to using a couple of "pirated software" in order to get the hang of things; I WILL purchase whatever I'm keeping but I like to try things out properly before I do. There's just too much crap out there.)
Resco Explorer
Resco Keyboard
Sprite Backup
Memmaid
Netfront 3.2
SKTools
OZVGA
CabInstall
Tweaks2k
psShutXP
NoteM
Socket Wifi connector
Wisbar Advance 2
x50Mix
TCMCP or is it TCMP???
and probably one or two other minor things I've forgotten.
I've installed just about everything I can to BIS or my 1 GB Ridata SD card (optimized, I think, according to one of Menneisyys' many, many useful, but complicated and technical, tutorials). Even with Wisbar, which most say to install to RAM, I have it installed on the SD card. I simply don't have it in my startup folder and just have a quick icon on my today screen (thanks to Resco) that I use to run it right after "booting". Works perfectly fine that way.
With a "true vga" theme and wisbar skin, both of which seem to consume a decent amount of RAM, after booting, I end up with 32 MB free. I have yet to try the Odessey tweak that's supposed to free 2 MB more, but I also might give Calligrapher 8 a shot and that will probably counter that gain and then some...
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to you all for all the advice and info I've gotten over the past few weeks. Loving the axim and looking forward to putting it through its paces.

Welcome to aximsite, Have you tied PocketBreeze, ContactBreeze and iLauncher. They are very nice and easy to use. Check their ad on aximiste.

All in good time. Hoping to get a large CF card - 2 or 4 GB - for Christmas unless I spend my $ on a cruise with the g/f.
For now, the SD card has to hold all of my data - music, documents, etc.

Will do. Mine's doing pretty well so far. Keep cleaning out junk files (htm and 2pb) files from my Windows folder.

I hesitated about posting that cause I know it's not legal and I really am not trying to steal any software. But some of the trial periods are just too short for me to get the real idea of the program. 3 days in some cases is really not enough.
Like I said, anything worth keeping, I'll buy. That's how I operate with Windows software as well.

Thanks as well.
Noticed that you're from BC. I was born there and although I moved away as a baby, I returned for university and graduated from UBC a couple of years ago. :)
