embarrassed - Huge amount of free space with nothing do to with it ..

O.k.
I admit that it might sound strange but I hear a lot of talking about 4GB, 6GB micro drive
And I asked my self more then once what are you people doing with this huge amount of data?

I have 512MB SD card + 1GB CF card.
All my softwares goes into BIS (and still I have a lot of free space over there)
Other stuffs like GPS maps, Sprite Back Up files and log files goes into SD. (and I still have a lot of free space over there )
Then we have the 1GB CF card.. I can put a movie in there or 300 Mp3’s but again,
I can use my 39.99$ mp3 player for that purpose.

So what are you guys doing with your free space?

One more thing,
It seems like pulling out the CF card required some strain.
Sometimes I even use my stylus to pull it out.
How come Dell never thought about an “eject” knob like we see in the digital cameras?

Lior

You can see my storage capacity in my sig. I'm 75% full in my CF card (Mainly data files) and 45% full in my SD card (mainly applications.

In the CF Card:

I've a library of a large collection of PDF and powerpoint slides. I've also interesting pictures and video files related to my profession. Pictures of slides from conferences which I can share with my colleagues. Also I have my databases in the CF card and transfer them back and forth btwn home and work pc by converting the Axim into a USB drive. In addition to MP3 music files and pictutre, I've several music video and other video clips (mostly to show off the power of the Axim). :) :approve:

SD Card: All my Applications and a lot of them.

BIS: Several CAB files.

I'm not a fan of microdrive: had very bad experiences with pocketable USB hard drive from Apricorn (EZbus Mini)

Maps for GPS, books. I use 1.6gb just for my GPS maps. Movies, eacn movie takes at least 250mb and more if you want the best quality, for each hour and a half movie. No problem here with 6GB Hitachi microdrive, except a minor hit on battery life <10% (unscientific estimate).

After all, it's human nature to expand to the space available to us.

I have a 6GB Microdrive and would die without it. Sure it drains the battery more, but I have a spare with me all the time. Usually it is mostly for Videos. Entire divx 2cd movies. And music. The other day though I used it to get a 4.3 GB .iso image from a friend computer using a flash reader. When you have that much space available to you, you just start getting creative!

I will be up to 12GB in my unit next week, I will have it completely filled up.

Programs and files (1.5GB)
Complete GPS map of USA+Canada (1GB)
Good portion of my music collection, 96bps WMAs (9.5GB)

I put my concerts and movies on a Eight 2GB SD cards in a nice little carrying case.

What good is a card less than 1GB

Personally I use my CF card more as permanent storage. Partly because it can be a pain to get in and out, and partly because I only had 1 CF card but I had several SD cards. So my 1GB CF card just stays in the Axim al the time. Good Luck~

PS - Encode some movies and fill up that space! :approve:

Lior, for me I simply placed a piece of tape on the top of the Compact Flash card with an extra bit sticking out about half an inch. I bent the tape over so that it sticks to itself and acts like a handle to pull the CF card out when inserted. I am also able to tuck the handle, extra piece of tape, back under the CF card into the X50v so that it isn't sticking out. It works great, doesn't cover the micro-drives vent hole and hasn't failed me yet.

This sure beats breaking the Compact Flash card and or the x50v itself. Hope that helps.

Recording up to 24 bit 96k high quality audio. I want a 4Gb SD card but they are far too expensive right now.

My probelm is that I have all my music and movies sitting on my home computer's hard drive and use Orb to access them. This way I don't use my portable storage or have to copy movies down to a smaller file. Now I don't know what to do with the extra space I have.
