X51V Speed issue
I have the new X51V since a few days and while I am very happy about the screen, I find the video speed quite disapointing. I had a X5 before and find that it felt much faster if it came to responsiveness. Especially switching Spb themes seems to take forever. So I am wondering whether l might have to do a hard reset and stunt of with a clean system again.
Can someone tell me if pocket hackmaster is Wm5 ready?

ROM processes are slower than RAM processes. WM5 is located in ROM.

ctitanic is right...because EVERYTHING in WM5 is stored in ROM it will be slower than 2003se and previous versions as far as initial responsiveness are concerned. Once a program is loaded into RAM initially though it will run just as fast as the older versions. It's that initial load that is longer.

Also, this means that if you actually close programs (like most of us) that lag should theoretically be there every single time because it's having to re-read the info and load it into RAM again vs. just minimizing it (which is what the "X" does by default.)

One more slower is the VGA screen. It's been shown that 4x the pixels takes more time to draw especially for themes and this also slows down VGA devices by quite a margin.

Exactly, a QVGA machine at 620 MHz with 2003SE will run a lot faster than a VGA at 620 with WM5.

I discovered today while formatting my SD card in Sktools, that the X51v Rom is formated with a clustersize of 512. Since I almost formatted my ROM by mistake it seems as if with SkTools one could actually modify the ROM clustersize which should result in some speed gain . Any thoughts?

never thought of that...but considering what will really be installed there...larger is faster, but it wastes more if the files are smaller than 512k.

Maybe we should consult with the helpful user who posted all those great tutorials about memory card tuning. I cannot remember his name. I am for the moment not brave enough to risk my x51v on this
