X51 not turning on

I wanted to see if this was a problem with all new X51's, or what percentage was experiencing this problem: Sometimes the X51 won't turn on when the power button is pressed, even though the lock switch is not locked.

if you read the manual it says that this is part of the power save feature. also there could be a fault in the programs so then just do a soft boot. i have had this problem a couple of times .

Cool Axim x51v turn on problems

I called Dell Support on this issue last night, and (surprise surprise!) they knew nothing about it. Anyway they offered to replace my unit, but they also are referring the matter to the senior engineers for further investigation. They acknowledged that this may be a ROM issue.

At this point getting a new unit seems silly considering others have done so and are still experiencing the same issues with their replacement units. This is clearly a problem that Dell must solve immediately, otherwise my soft reset button may bust before the new ROM is available.

WOW THAT IS SO WEIRD.i asked about that problem and they said to just rebot that it was a software issue or something.this a big HUM THINKER .what do we x51 users do ?trade in or deal with it?
well let me in on what you plan to do cause i just might have to do the same .or this thing might be bouncing its way down a interstate.

Axim won't turn on.

I tried to turn on my Axim, its only a few days old,No luck.
I changed the battery, then turned on the Axim X51 ok.
I checked the battery level it was charged by 85%.

I will wait a day or so then call Dell if this continues. :hide:

I will decide what to do then.

Good Luck,
Carey Kruse

Well, now the problem is becoming more frequent, and my Belkin Sync/Charge cable isn't even working. Unit is dead until I get home. Ordered a replacement Axim and cable from Dell. If this doesn't work, I'd advise everyone to return their units. If this is the junk they are trying to sell they have no business marketing this. Even with my epp discount this is a lot of money for a lot of crap.

Guys since I applied this hack http://www.tweaks2k2.com/portal/foru...&fromblock=yes
I have not suffered again from this issue. I applied this hack trying to fix the disappearing of my SD card but now I have noticed that I don't have any more this problem. Question to all that reported to have this problem: Do they have a SD Card plugged in the device?

I got my X51 yesterday and I have had to do a soft reboot >5 times today because it has gone to sleep and won't wake up.

And yes, I have an SD card that I stuck in it this morning (it didn't do it yesterday when I didn't have the card in...)

Afer about a week my x51v exhibiting this issue. I contacted Dell and the unit was replaced. Everything was fine with the new device for two weeks and then the 2nd device started displaying the same problems. The way around it I have found is remove the battery for a few seconds and replace. The system will come back up. However, this problem happens nearly 100% of the time I turn the device off, at least any time the device is off for more than 5 minutes. So, rather than just hitting the power button I have to remove and replace the battery every single time.

Another issue I've noticed with my 2nd Axim that I didn't with my first is excessive battery loss. I charged the device fully last night. Immediately turned it off after. About 12 hours later I turned the device on and battery was at 81%. Used device for maybe 3 minutes and turned it back off. Two hours later turn it back on and 72% battery remaining. That much battery usage when the device is off????

I've contacted Dell again. The last device was annoying with having to keep removing battery but this is worse with no battery life. If the same problem occured in the first device I didn't notice.

did you try a soft reset? I do not need to remove the battery. A soft reset is enough but like I said since I applied the registry hack this problem never happened again.

Ok, I've applied the Hack even though I was not having an issue with the SD card disappearing, I am hoping it will help with the not turning on issue, will let you know how things turn out.

On a side note: It was already at 1500, so I bumped it to 4096, should I also modify the "waitIOdelay" which is at 1500? Thanks.
