Sporadic loss of CF storage?
Odd problem. Every couple of hours my X51v "forgets" that it has a CF card installed (512MB flash)... and only a soft-reset sorts this out.

Any ideas why this might be happening? And what would be a solution?

Thanks
Buz

Maybe you might need to reformat your card, copy everything to your PC then reformat your card, then copy back from your PC.

I have the exact same issue. Have to do a soft reset once or twice a day specifically for this same reason.

Sorry, I have no solution. I think it's probably a firmware/OS issue.

Next time it happens, try going into File Explorer and look at the directory tree. If you see "CF Card2" or simular, remove the card, then delete "CF Card". Reinsert your card, it should be seen just fine.

I had the same problem with my X50v A01. After I upgraded to A02 or higher, the problem went away.

Same problem here.
Every so often File Explorer, Resco Explorer and Media Player would be unable to see my CF card (1 gig, Sandisk).

Formatting didn't help.

I was using Battery Bar plus at the time.
I’ve since gone back to Battery Bar lite and things have been ok for the past 24 hours.

I’ll report back if my CF card goes ‘missing’ again.

I spoke too soon.

My CF card has disappeared again.

I'll try the suggestion in the following post next:

I can tell you that the "fix" doesn't work for the loss of the CF card (I've been trying it for more than a week now). I was beginning to think my card was dying.

Has anyone called Dell to let them know about these bugs?

Could the problem be related with the card itself? Have you tried to use the card on another device without any problems? If so, then the problem is either compatibility or a faulty slot.

I have used this card without issue on 3 other devices (2 cameras, 1 Toshiba 750 PPC). The card also works fine with my card-reader on PC.

I have another card which I'll be trying out to confirm a faulty slot... however I find it odd that the card is recognised and usable for hours, after which it simply disappears. Suggests not a hardware issue, but software really.

That hack did not fix the problem with the SD Card either but it makes it less frequent.

Update:

Called Technical support about the Card issue and they immediately passed me along to Customer Care saying that the unit should be replaced.

While talking with the Care rep I mentioned that I wasn't entirely satisfied with the Flip Case because it makes access to the buttons more difficult (and the biggest benefit of WM2005 for me is single hand use). She immediately arranged for it to be replaced as well. I'm expecting the same problems with the new case,... and will probably return it and go with a flip case from a 3rd party.

Both the new Axim and Case should be here within a week.

Both the Tech rep and Care rep were top notch and I was extremelly impressed with the Service.

That's what I think
... Unless the unit that they are sending him has a patch already installed
