Horizontal Line in display
Got a black horizontal line running across the display about 3/4 of the way down. Is most annoying when the keyboard is displayed as the line runs right through the numbers on the keyboard.

Is this a defect?

Have you apply a screen protector to the unit. Try to remove it. It may be putting pressure to the screen and cause these lines.

No, I haven't but I am considering doing that. Are screen protectors a good idea?

Yes after extended use you might begin to notice small annoying scratches on the surface of the touch pad.
