I've noticed that too... but it might be a good thing... I haven't had a white screen of death for a while now. I think the activesync is waking up the Axim periodically so it doesn't go into that dreaded, unrecoverable deep sleep mode.

It's completely annoyed that my 51v keeps turning on when connected. I just want to charge up the battery instead of doing sync with my outlook.

M$ sucks.

Yes, mine too. It also refused to obey the sleep instructions when in the cradle. The synching seems completely random! However it now does do that (and it hasn't synched for about 20 minutes) - the only thing I changed was the WLAN back to AUTO. (Start/settings/connections/Dell WLAN Utility) Soooo fingers crossed!

Ooops

Not that at all! I'd disabled the Local Area Connection! Effectively the same as unplugging the USB Cable.

Came across this on pocketpcgaq.com:
Quote:
Windows Mobile 5.0 Limitations

When you sync Windows Mobile 5.0 (WM5.0) Pocket PCs you may experience the following differences with prior versions of ActiveSync. ActiveSync 4.0/WM5.0 does not allow the user to specify the frequency of synchronization. Previously with ActiveSync 3.x and older devices you could specify the option to sync continuously, on connect or manually.
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/acti....0overview.htm

And this else where on the site:
Quote:
Schedule ... is only available after you configure the Exchange Server
Still haven't found out why the heck AS fires up on its own when not in the cradle.

I did this on my X51v, and I even went to AS on the XP desktop and under "File", "Connection settings...", UNCHECKED "Open AS when my device connects".

After this, I plug my Axim in the cradle, and bam! AS is open and it's trying to sync the device...

I think that I have found a solution on another site. It seems to work so far. Here it is.

All you need to do to prevent activesync from automatically turning on your axim is:

If you just want to charge the axim:
1. insert axim in cradle
2. quickly turn off axim before activesync connects.

If you waited for activesync to connect and then turn the PPC off, it will turn on again after a few min.

If you want activesync to stay off after you have finished syncing:

1. Turn off axim while in cradle
2. Turn on axim and quickly turn it off again before activesync connects.

I've tried that stuff and it only works sometimes. I've just been unplugging the USB cable... take that activesync.

I think this is the best way to resolve this problem.

Hola,

I think that with the program " Active Sync Toggle" you can simply resolve this problem.

You can download here:

With this program you decide when you want to have AS on. So when have close AS in your PC your PDA only will be on charge but not syncronizing (exists this word? sorry, I don´t speak english).

I hope this way is easily and effective.

X51 WM5 As 4.0
Try the following from this thread it works for some on the X50

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=104366

ActiveSync 4.0 turns on automatically/Processor stuck at 624MHz ******
There were several posts indicating ActiveSync turns on by itself when the Axim is not cradled and eventually drains the battery. It never happens to me. Circumpvention provided by Invid:

Disabling automatic syncing (and activesync startup) did. The new activesync is a dog, even worse than it was on WM2003SE and makes my x50v almost useless while running. I will list the steps to disable it. Note that you will still be able to sync, but AS will no longer start up on it's own.

1) Start up AS on your x50.
2) Tap the menu tab/soft key and tap "Add Server Source"
3) Configure a server source with a dummy IP address, user id, password and domain name; these do not have to be real
4) Once configured you should have another sync source show up on your main AS screen...continue on.
5) Tap the menu soft key again and you should see that the sync schedule option is no longer greyed out.
6) Change your schedule from a timed automatic start of AS to manual under both fields
7) If you try to sync now, AS will try to contact your imaginary exchange server and that will take forever until it times out, so you can now delete the exchange server from your list of sync sources. Your changes to the sync schedule will remain and will survive soft resets too.

If you have a switcher app running (like vbar) you will find that when you close AS it will now stay closed and you should see a corresponding increase in speed.

Post some feedback and let others know if this worked for you. I am not really sure if this is what sped up my x50v but I know that it no longer slows down to a craw on a regular 5 minute schedule and AS only starts when in the cradle or when I start it for BT syncing.

WOW! So simple too! Solved a wierd little quirk I had going on... I was missing e-mail. Well, it turns out that my X51v was snagging it during it's many sync's!

Thanks! :approve:

UPDATE: I've been using this program with a shortcut on my desktop and it's by far the easiest solution yet. I sync up, turn off the X51v, click on the shortcut to disable Active Sync and I never hear from it again till I click on the shortcut and turn it back on! I love it!

I experienced the same problem, it keep loading. I found out that the firewall has block me. What I do is close the firewall(Tried enable all doesn't seem to work on Sygate). If you install firewall, remove it. Should work!

I was having the same problem (Activesync v4.1 running non-stop).
On my machine, changing the following registry key seems to have solved the problem:
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners\2d9d218e\Services\Synchronizatio n"
"Continously Update" was set to 1; setting it to 0 fixed the problem for me.
Good luck.
