x51v isn't worth it - yet
Until Dell comes out with a ROM that works, this product shouldn't even be on the market. Lockups when trying to turn on, sync fails, etc. are not worth $499.

Dell won't even acknowledge this is a problem. I am exchanging my unit once to see if I get better results. If not, I'll wait for HP to come out with a WM5 unit with a VGA screen.

Previous debates on this have noted they are Win Mobile 5 issues not Dell hardware issues.

Gotta love microsoft. They'd <sarcasm> Never </sarcasm> release a product with bugs in it.

well I do not see it that...if it is software ..do not release new hardware that uses the software...they go hand in hand..Dell should have waited if this is a big issue

I blame Dell for selling an unstable unit

I totally agree with you! It seems to me like Dell is trying to win fast money without caring so much for their customers... ring any bells ?

well a lot of problems seem to be due to 3rd party software not working... which can't be Dell's or Microsofts fault (as much as i would like to blame m$)

I bet if everyone would give their Axim a test run for about a week before installing a bunch of third party sofeware you would hear less complaints.I didn't install anything for week to make sure my Axim was doing ok.Then I installed one ap at a time and run it awhile to see how it worked. If someting started going crazy I uninstalled the last ap and went from there.

Funny...
Funny, I don't have any problems with my X51V.

Maybe because I'm so l33t. I dunno.

Well, sorry, I can't believe it's a Microsoft problem. I just received my replacement x51v from Dell, installed no third party software, and did a few syncs. That was yesterday. Today I used it for awhile, still no installs, and it was fine - until mid afternoon. Took it out of my pocket and again, the damn thing does not turn on. Had to do a soft reset.

I don't even care if it's a problem with the OS. IF this issue is so widespread, why didn't Dell wait before they shipped any of these axims until the problem was solved?!?!

One last thing - I am appauled that Dell Tech Support doesn't even acknowledge this as an issue. There are tons of posts on this site as well as others about this very issue. You have to think Dell Tech Support would be reading some of these comments. I even directed them to this forum. They need to develop a new ROM - quickly.
