Axim X51 Internet Connection Setup
Hi I'm trying to setup a connection between my X51 and my blue tooth enabled motorola v551 to access my ISP through its dial in number. I set up the connection throuhh Connection Settings, but each time the X51 uses my cell phone to call the dial in number it says there is no modem connected to that number. Can anyone help me?

You know, I have that same issue when using my V551 to connect as a modem through bluetooth with my laptop.. Do you have Cingular, by chance?? Either way, you'll probably just have to pay for the edge service with your provider and set it up without calling a phone number. (I don't know what this is called, but I gave up with mine and decided this was the problem)

There's a $4.95 addon to your Cingular service otherwise they kill all dial-up connections. I just got the unlimited package and use it as a modem that way. The connections are almost always better than dial-up, even if slightly. The Edge modem in the 551 is really bad though, so you'll still see speeds not too far from dial-up/normal GPRS.

Do you have to dial up or would you be open to a data package with Cingular? They offer several packages and it works nicely with my 551 and X51. If you set up a package there are links to setting up using the Cingular data network. Let me know if you need help and I will direct you to Cingular's offerings and config.
