I don't feel so bad now sticking with my trusty X30. When JoePunk got his X51v, I was really jealous. But after seeing/hearing all the stuff that doesn't work with it, I'm kinda happy to have my reliable X30. :) I do hope that Dell/MS get their stuff together and get all the bugs worked out.

Maybe Dell is trying to make up for those who receive extra items they didn't order or pay for in their shipments and then get on here and brag about receiving a "free" extra x50v.

I don't think so.
I've 2 4gb CF card from sandisk. Both work fine in my X50v. But the X51v time to time won't recognize the CF card.

I also get the occasional white screen. Many ppl have this experience with their devices. I never had this in my X50v. But now I know "the white screen"

Anyway, I think these are expected with a major new os and new device. I think I've patience because my X50v is working fine and enjoying it fully.

Actually, it can also be the other way aroud. At work I received a Kingston 2GB SD (Ultimate series) with could not be recognized by my X50v (A05). In my X51v (A01) no problems whatsoever :-)

Cheers!

Argh...!

The problems that people have been reporting, do they include networking issues? From what I hear it's the Windows Mobile 5 problems -- there are a lot of them. My X50V works beautifully in almost all areas, I got an X51V and I'm pretty disappointed so far. I can't get the X51V to work properly with either Bluetooth OR WiFi, whereas doing the exact same config on the X50V works perfectly fine. In fact after a hard reset the WiFi card becomes available, tries to connect to my WPA network, never connects, then eventually disappears. Clicking on "settings" from the wifi config page just brings me right to the list of all network devices, yet the "site" tab lists the available networks! Additionally when I try using BT with my Motorola V710 cellphone, it will try to pair up but the axim will always fail the initial attempt, then the second attempt always immediately passes but refuses to list any services associated with the device. Are these problems consistent with problems other people have been seeing?

Did the X50V go through similar problems when it first came out?

I have been playing around with kasuei Hitchhiker, and that might help solve your wireless problems. Once the wifi card is enabled, it should allow you to see the networks available and hopefully connect. It should be WPA enabled, but you may need to use the Odessy client if you are using anything more complicated then PSK or TKIP.

I don't suppose there is any chance that the update program on the x51's actually works to fix some of these issues? Anyone try it yet?

Isn't there a download agent or something that is supposed to be able to update WM5?

Ok, thanks. Also found this out and I'm sure it will make everyone very happy (sarcasm). For some unknown reason, Dell's support site will not recognize either of the service tags on my X51. What is up with that? Talk about shafting your customers...........

My X51v doesn't have a service tag on it. Where are you finding yours?

Yeah it does. it is just in an inconspicuous place. Take off the battery cover and remove the battery. At the bottom of the sticker it should say service tag and express service code. There ya go!
