Dell has updates for x51v from Microsoft but upper Dell brass is sitting on them.

Last week I called Dell tech support...again. I called early in the morning and got a really nice guy from the states as opposed to someone across the ocean whom is well lacking english skills(no offense to them its just not their native tongue). Well this guy actually involved with the axim and was part of the hardware solution team for the x51v. I explained to him the problem with the headset and many of the other problems Ive seen on this site. He apparently knows this site...but had never heard of the problems I was listing...trouble turning on...white screen of death...the ms stack registry deletions. Well anyway he told me microsoft had released patches for windows mobile 5.0 to dell for the x51v but dell has yet to release them. He himself has sent many requests to management to release these updates. I believe from what I understood is that they told them they did and he began to refer people to the download page to dl the patches for relating issues. He realized after they couldnt find it they were still not on there. THat last part may be wrong It is an inference..all the rest is pretty much what he told me. He also told me to check the download page often. A week has gone by and still no updates what is the upper brass at dell doing...

Dell sucks. For the 4th week in a row I've gotten another email saying my wm5 cd is delayed. This is such crap. They probably don't want to release any updates because they can't even get the cd's out to people who've bought them. I doubt I'll ever by anything from dell again

I would assume some QAing is being done by Dell on these patches, taking directly from Microsoft and releasing directly to the public isn't the right solution IMO.

Personaly I believe everything that a Dell call person says, after all they have no interest in just giving me a quick/easy answer to get me off the phone

Maybe the reason for the delays we are getting is the fact that major updates are being finalized on WM50 by Microsoft and Dell doesn't want to get into shipping or downloading thousands of multiple downloads. I for one would rather wait for another month than to have to update WM50 once it's installed and find that I have to reload everything each time.'

Patience is a virtue; a good cold beer is priceless.

I agree, I think they are working out the bugs to prevent massive overload to the non-english service reps lol... Can you imagine?!?

Talked to the guy again today. You guys were right they are revising them to make sure everything is cool. Sorry for my negative spin.

Why is a hardware development guy (and incidentally the hardware was not developed by Dell) answering the phones on L1 helpdesk??

I want it, I want it, I want it. Oh crap, this stinks, I lost all of my data, my PDA now smokes everytime I turn it on. Why didn't Dell and Microsoft work out the bugs in this before they released it?

Haha just like releasing such a buggy axim wasn't the right solution. They are so quick to sell us garbage when there is a profit, and so slow to give us fixes when they can't charge for them. And whats with all these people trying to calm those people who are upset by means of insulting their reasons for being angry. Now i agree getting really upset doesn't produces results, but when people buy something they have a right to get what they paid for. The amount of pieces people have been missing from there shipments is outrageous. Selling something that doesn't work as advertised is plain and simple wrong...no excuses just wrong. Every new os will have some bugs, but it should a least be able to function most of the time.

Yeah, I am there too. I badger Dell to explain to me why shipping me a freaking CD will take 6-8 weeks.

After the usual..."so I understand you want to track your order" and " I do apologize..." no one even seemed to understand what I was asking.

Who's insulting anyone, just stating a fact. I have an X51v and would love to get an update. If everyone waits for the first fix packs who the heck is going to find the problems to get them fixed? Early adoption of a new platform comes at price, and I understood that when I ordered it. There is no point in bashing!
