X51v VPN through 802.11b issue
Hi,

I hope this is the right forum - apologies if I've mis-posted!

I've got an X51v that I use at work. We have an internal wireless network that is accessed via VPN (the access points are configured for VPN passthrough).

I've configured the Axim "At Work" settings for DHCP and entered the VPN server details.

The DHCP server assigns IP addresses in the private 192.168.x.x range and so I've selected "At work" for the "automatically connect to private..." menu. (The "Internet..." menu is also set the same.

The WLAN configuration tool allows me to connect successfully to our 802.11b network.

The issue I'm experienceing is that I can't get the VPN connection to launch, once I'm connected to the wireless network.

I've tried manually selecting "connect", etc. but nothing happens. The double-headed icon in the navigation bar does not show any available VPN connections if I select and "hold" it. Am I missing something here as I can't find the answer elsewhere.

Thank you for taking the time to read this,

Andrew

This is the same problem I had. You have to go to Settings folder. Click on the Connections Tab. Then Click Connections. Then Click the Advanced Tab. Click the Exceptions button. Then Click the "Add new Url" link. Enter "*/*" with out the quotes. This will solve your problem.

Hi,

Thanks for the information. It did work... in a fashion

The first time I tried it (straight after a hard reset) I followed the advice above and still no VPN connection.

I then found the advice under "troubleshooting" on this page:

http://uits.iu.edu/scripts/ose.cgi?anze.ose.help

and it worked!

So, I did another hard reset, followed the advice given in the first post and it worked that time

So, I don't know if or what I did differently but everything worked out

Should also say that it doesn't matter if you use */* or *.* in exceptions, result is the same.

EDIT: ps The VPN connections were still never present by selecting the double-headed arrow icon, but by manually launching the vpn connection from the "edit vpn servers" wizard it worked.

Thanks,

Andy

Thank you very much! The tech staff here at school refused to help me because I was using a PPC.

This worked perfectly.
