Wi-Fi - is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
Just got my X51v a couple weeks ago and have been trying to configure it for wireless. I bought the Wi-Fi Companion software in addition to the PDA, and I'm having trouble getting a consistent connection.

With the Dell WLAN and Odessey Client utilities enabled, when I turn on the PDA I will often receive an error message: "Cannot execute \Program File\Funk Software\Odessey Client\ODClientCE.exe". After clicking OK, Wi-Fi Companion will fail to make a connection, even though the WLAN utility is running (with a normal/strong connection) and the Odessey client appears to be running also (packet activity, etc.) If I do a soft reset, everything then seems to come up fine, including Wi-Fi Companion. It seems all 3 of these utilities must be functioning in order for me to get a wireless connection. Which is fine, but I shouldn't have to do a soft reset in order to consistently connect. Any ideas?

some of us have to deal with soft reset on a daily basis,

Connection problems without Wi-Fi Companion

Yes, whenever Wi-Fi Companion wasn't loaded, I would receive an error message when I tried to bring up web pages. When all three utilities are working, then everything is fine. I didn't try removing the Wi-Fi Companion utility entirely just to see if that makes a difference. In theory it shouldn't be necessary anyway, since it's only a tool for locating connection (much like I assume Odessey is). Another possibility is a problem with Odessey. I've read threads on here about configuration problems with that.

Yes, I went to the website and got the latest version. Had to install it as a CAB file, but it installed fine.

no, actually odyssey is a configuration tool that does what Wlan does plus some extras. I have to use odyssey to connect at work because we use sysco eap/peap and wlan won't work with that.you may want to just use wlan for your network if you can. that is all i use at home.
