I will try to have a guide soon. Right now I have to read some stupid book for english
**A THOUGHT** Befor I make a guide, 2 things
1. Make sure you clear all attempted partnerships from both your axim, and your V710
2. To make a DUN partnership make sure you pair going through connection manager while making a "New Connection" not through the general bluetooth menu, ther is discussion that this only show SPP and occasionally hands free......(If the registry keys were there)
P.S. Make sure you use the code "1234". I have tried other codes, but no others show DUN, wierd much?
Before you lose patience with the axim I would take a hard look at your V710 from Verizon. I had a V710 from verizon about 18 months ago, and tried to do a lot of bluetooth stuff with it. If you are not already aware Verizon has basically "crippled" the bluetooth capabilities of the V710 citing "security" concerns. Trouble is, they didn't tell anyone about this when they were selling them. There is actually a class action suit going on. Basically it comes down to you acnnot do anything bluetooth with the V710 except pair a headset for talking on... that's it, no DUN, no file transfer, not nothing else. Before you throw your axim away, try using DUN with someone's phone other than the V710... I bet it works.

What you are saying is to a DEGREE True, but check your sources first. First of all Verizon has crippled the V710, and almost all other bluetooth enabled devices on their network. But the word cripple can be tricky. The V710 currently support two profiles, "DUN" and headeset (don't know the abberivation). Once again a V710 straight from the store will support DUN. No hacks no nothing. The E815 may require the ##DIALUP, but I am focusing on the V710. The law suit is concering the fact that Verizon did not "inform their customers that bluetooth is crippled, and which profiles were removed, and which ones still remained." Really I am suprised no one has brought this up with the AXIM and the fact it is bluetooth enabled but only supports like 4 profiles.
Oh yah, now that it crosses my mind, actually the problem with mine was the AXIM, not the V710. The AXIM's defualt access code for BT is 1234, and apparentley it just doesn't like other codes with the V710. That is the only thing that made mine work.
I have a motorola v710 from verizon. The only 2 profiles the v710 support is DUN and the headset profile. The E815 by defualt does not support anything but headset i believe (don't hold me to that). A simple search of Howard Forums or probaly just google will tell you how to re-enable DUN as well as OBEX (LUCKY e815 owners). For DUN i think (once again dont hold me to this) it is ##DIALUP.
OK, Just from my experience I would still look at the V710. In the scenario of DUN, it is not important whether or not the Axim has the DUN profile but the phone must provide it, and the PPC (or laptop) must have the capability (software) to take advantage of it.
It has been mentioned that the V710 has the DUN, and maybe that's the case, I know I was not able to get it to work with a PPC or my laptop or anything, but I have since changed to T-mobile and have been able to do DUN using both my HP6315 & Motorola Razr V3 (with my laptop) no problems.
I had other difficulties with the V710: ie I could never get it to work right with either the Sonorix bluetooth stereo headphones or the Bluetake stereo headphones (both of these headphones let you listen to music on one bluetooth source, and pair up with a bluetooth phone simultaneously, and if a phone call comes in, they cut in with the phone call and you can have the conversation, after you hang up, the music starts again). Both of these devices work flawlessly with my Razr.
Anyway, I finally gave up and ditched the V710 and Verizon (even paid the early cancellation fee)... I refuse to go back to Verizon ever again because they really misrepresented the phone's capabilities.
It sounds like people are having DUN success with other phones, and I would suggest that a try with a different phone may be worth the effort. Just my opinion.
Well in my case I have had no problems pairing the v710 and my x51 together after I used the code 1234. Also im not sure if this was you case, but the V710 supports only the headset profile, not the AD2P profile, which may have been why you tried and got nothing. I hope that you like your new phone better and right now I plan to stick with the v710 for a while.
Yes, for DUN on the 815, you just dial ##DIALUP real fast and you will enable dialup. Dialing the same thing again will disable it. To get OBEX back on the 815, you need to seem edit the phone which may brick it if you're not careful.
Wow the combo of Verizon and Dell is kind of sucks!
If only Verizon wasn't the only one with decent coverage in the edge of the D.C. area...
Well I think all I can do now is wait for the update and pray that it fixes it. I have tried every suggestion and every other possible way I and my entire company can come up with!
Well it's only four more days if it comes out when they said it is... we'll see!
To hope for a brighter bluetooth!
Thanks for your help everyone,
Kirstin

1. First let's clear all attempted partnersips on either device. On the V710 [Menu][Settings][Connection][Bluetooth Link][Device History]. For the X51 [Start][Settings][Connections][Bluetooth][Devices]. Once cleard attempted partner ships, proceed to step two
2. Now let's make sure bluetooth is on and in disoverable mode. (Since the V710 is only discoverable for 60 seconds, we will do the AXIM first.) On your AXIM go [Start][Settings][Connections][Bluetooth]. First make sure the "Turn on Bluetooth" box is checked and if it's not check it, and the "Make this device discoverable to other devices" box. Now press [ok]. The LED light should now be flashing blue every few seconds. If not try again. Now for the V710 [Menu][Settings][Connection][Bluetooth Link][Setup]. Now go ahead and stay there for a moment and turn your attention back to your AXIM. Go to Start][Settings][Connections][Add a new modem connection]. Name it something you can remember. Chane the modem to Bluetooth. Press Next. It will most likely ask you to set up a new partnership, or take you to a screen where you can. (NOTE: If you already see the phone, then you have already attempted a partnership, and did not clear it. Go to step 1). Go back to you V710. Click "Find Me" and it will tell you 1 of two things. {1. Discoverable 60 Seconds} or {2. Bluetooth Power is off. Temporarily Power on? PLEASE SELECT YES}. Now on the AXIM, tap "New Partnership..." It should begin to scan for new Bluetooth Devices. Tap the name of the device it just discovered. (FOR THIS DEMO THE PHONE WILL BE NAME "V710"). Press next. Here it will ask for a passkey. It has been my experience that the only working code is "1234". Enter this and press next. (The AXIM will show the pretty round spinny thing.) The V710 should now ask "Bond with (INSERT NAME HERE)" (Y or N). Press yes. Now it will ask for a passkey. Once again type 1234. If it worked then it will say " PIN Verified and Saved". The AXIM will now have moved to the services screen.
3. This seems to be the part everyone has problems. The two devices will have paired, but no services will show. Now on my AXIM, for some reason it asks me the passkey twice. The second time I type "1234" it shows the "Dial-up Networking Profile". Once you select it, then on the Verizon Network, you should dial "#777". Your username is "(YOUR TEN DIGIT PHONE NUMBER)@vzw3g.com". Password is "vzw".
I did everything is these instructions, and I was able to get DUN to show up again.
I hope everyone can benefit from these instructions, and would appericiate to know how it goes.
Another Note: If during the PIN Process, your phone cuts off then back on, go ahead and start over.
One more note: When and if the AXIM asks for the Passkey again, then send me a PM, becuase mine did this, and it took me three or four time to actually get this to work. I want to know how it goes for all of you.
Thank you soo much for you excellent directions... sadly though this is the part where it goes south

But 6 tries later (all asking for the second pairing number entering) I still have no services, maybe it's a difference between the X51v and the X51...
Hoping that the ROM update will help! 4 more days!!
Thanks a bunch to everyone especially coolbre304 for trying!!

BM :) :approve:
I have an X50V that I tried pairing up with my V710. The process worked like a charm under WM2003SE, but failed under WM5. I admit that I did not try the 1234 passkey. Does anyone know if this procedure works on the X50V with WM5? It was time consuming upgrading to WM5. Believe it or not, it was time consuming downgrading back to WM2003SE. Before going back to WM5, I am reluctant to upgrade again if I know there isn't much chance for success.
I've heard mentioned several times now about an X51V ROM update. Does this ROM update address the WM5 issues (like BT) or is it unique for the X51V?
Well, I'm sorry this didn't work for you. I will try to do some digging in my X51 and my V710 to see if there is something I tweaked that I don't remember.
At the moment, the only suggestion I have would be to try a hard reset, and see what that does. Don't try it if you don't want to, I am still not sure if it is guareented to work. Mabey there is something with the ROM Image an certain axims?
Hopefully in the supposed ROM update on Friday, we will be able to forget about this thread completley, and use headsets!!
