I also have the 2200mAh battery and get the message only when I swap it for the standard 1100mAh.

I applied it to the battery cover from the inside of both covers (2200 & 1100mAh). Problem solved.

If you look carefully at the back of the Axim, you'll see that one of the holes that the lugs on the battery cover go into has a small microswitch inside.

This is your battery cover sensor, and the fault is caused by the crappy flexible plastic battery cover not pressing it enough. So apply a bit of tape---or in my case, a bit of paper held on by blu-tak---to the battery cover lug which fits into the appropriate hole, so the switch is always depressed properly.

I have same issue with Both batteries.. I've chalked it up to a sensative sensor.. A little piece of plastic inside the cover usually makes it firm enough to keep the msgs away.

I was having this issue also. Now that I know what the problem is should be an easy fix. Thanks :)

I've been having the same problem. Not to be totally stupid, but maybe someone could post a picture of exactly where to apply the tape. Thanks.

I have been having this problem with both the 1100 and the 2200 mAh batteries. (both Dell)
Aggrevation indeed, especially the time I didn't notice it soon and nearly got my backup battery completely drained. On the first day of a trip abroad.

The battery latch warning has finally hit me after 2 years. After getting 5 or 6 battery latch warning yesterday, I decided to soft reset. It just got stuck in a loop of soft resetting. So I had to hard reset which fixed the soft reset loop but I still get the battery latch warning. The tape trick didn't work for me unfortunately. Dell is sending me a refurb on Monday. Glad I backed up yesterday...
