ActiveSync 4.1 still no worky through USB hubs and docking stations!

This infuriates me. Why did MS switch to TCP/IP communication via USB? Because of this, MS does confirm that there is unreliable communication with ActiveSync when using a USB hub or docking station. Their solution? plug directly into PC.

Well Mr. Gates, some of us can't do that when their work station is configured to work only with a docking station!

Anyone else have this problem? I'm using the Dell D stand with an Inspiron 8500.

Yes, I'm having the same problem. My laptop appears to come with a built-in hub, so I can use it to synch to my new x51v. I suspect many of the WM5 upgrades are failing just because of this! I can't prove it, but it is suspicious.

Hi Keith,

I don't suspect that the ROM upgrades for WM5 have anything to do with this sync issue, but rather is the ActiveSync software? From what I've read, it's related to the new sync protocol of using TCP/IP packets to sync. I could be wrong though... Maybe it's an interaction between the two (WM5 & AS4.x)... Whichever it is, Microsoft and Dell need to put this issue to the forefront ASAP!
