Two nights ago out of the blue the touch screen stopped working. I turned it on and I could not enter my password. I could turn it off via the button, and the other buttons appear to work. I did a hard reset and now I am stuck at the "Tap the screen to set up your Windows mobile-based device." If I put it on the dock it will sync. I left the battery out for 48 hours and the screen still does not work. Is there anything else I can try or should I call Dell?
Do you have the slide lock switch set to lock, located on side above WIFI button, It is used to lock the buttons, and will prevent you from tapping the screen

I found that buttonMax program adds for some reason, and screen driver, and if I answer yes to a weird question during the installation, I loose the touch screen. All buttons work, but unless you have everything mapped out, you really can't do anything.
The problem only presents itself after installing, choosing yes to the question, then rebooting. Until you reboot, it works properly.

The only thing I did was remove the battery and power it back up. Funny thing is, I had done that a few times previously, and did a couple of hard resets and many soft resets.
I checked the lock switch multiple times, but it was set to unlock and i could use the power button. With the lock enabled I could not power down the device.
This problem can be caused by dust or dirt getting stuck betwen the edge of the screen and the case. It can also be an incorrectly installed scren protector although not in llars case, as he did not have one fitted.
If it occurs again, try running a business card around the edge of the screen under the case to clear out any detritus.
