anyone successfuly surf the internet from desktop with Belkin Sync & charge cable ? It's working if I use the cradle , but not for the cable only

I have the Dell Sync/Charge Cable and I have been able to do what your asking through WiFi and a direct connection through the cable to my notebook using ActiveSync.

I have the Belkin Sync & charge cable (including car adapter) from Dell. I find that it is not reliable to charge the Axim using standard USB port.
When I plug it to my Dell Dimension 2400, the Axim x51v become brighter (like put in the cradle for charging) and than dimmer every second. It seem that the USB port does not provide enough power to charge the Axim.
I also try this on my friend's Athlon 64 machine that is using Asus motherbroad. The Axim do not charge at all but can be sync.
The only time it can charge and sync is from a Tosibla Centrino laptop.

If it is the computer USB port do not provide enough power, the only solution is using a powered USB hub.

Can do both with my Dell Sync/Charge cable also. Do you
use the Belkin cable 'cause you lost the Dell cable?
Or, did you inherit the Ax someplace and were forced to outsource a cable elsewhere?

Never a problem with either. Also surf via WiFi, never a problem.

The process I use is to connect the unit, let it activesync, then with unit in hand just use it as if it were on WiFi. Access the email applicaion for emial and the explorer for surfing. With activesync active you can access all of the internet functions.

thanks for all the inputs. I think I found the problem --- it works in home either with cradle or with Sync&charge cable . The problem is in my work place . anyone knows how to set up proxy through desktop PC in work ( No WIFI) ? The setup in IE is an automatic configurable script but I didn't find this option in PockeIE.

Start -> Settings -> Connections tab -> Connections Icon -> Setup My Proxy server. :)
