Axim x51v inaccurate, unresponsive, and phantom taps

A couple of days ago a problem has developed with my Axim x51v. Basically the touchscreen has become unresponsive or inaccurate with taps. It will also have phantom taps (ie it does something even though I haven't touched it). I've tried soft and hard resets as well as aligning the screen. Have blown it out with compressed air and slid a business card along the edges. The only thing that seems to help is cleaning the screen with a lens cleaner. Then it works ok for a little bit but the problem comes back.

Any ideas?

Has humidity increased in the area you are using it? Also, this may be a hardware problem, call Dell and see what they say.

I had this problem with my X5, i think it was becuase I kept it in my pocket unprotected. When I tilted my screen at an angle, you could see this spot that seemed to be the problem of it all. I had no way of fixing this, but leave it like on a desk or something for a while, and then turn it on and see what happens.

If you cna't fix it, just ask Dell for a replacement.

do you have a screen protector on it? my x30 has been having problems with a screen protector, when i put it on i can see goofy swirls (i've heard caused by placing two clear, flat surfaces together) but at a concentration of those rings i get phantom taps. It's really starting to anger me because i just put on a screen protector and put it in my pocket, but if it's phantomly tapping when i need to use it, it'sworthless.

unreponsive tap screen problem

use of a screen protector is not the cause of this inoperative tap sreen because I do not us a screen protector and my log on screen becomes irresponsive at times......

These frustrating times occur when the Axim is in my pocket and I have either left it unlocked when off or in sleep mode - locked.

It has something to do with an accumulation commands that have occured due to motion in my pocket that makes the axim call for the start menu continously for a zillion times.... unitl these accumulated commads have run their course I cannot even enter the numbers of my password... I sometimes have to wait an hour for the accumulated commands to clear..meanwhile I sit there and curse DELL.

Any suggestions?:rolling:

Why not slide the Lock switch on (on the side of the x51v) before putting it in your pocket?

It happens even with the lock switch on... particularly if I leave the axim on, engage the lock switch and then put it in my pocket....
