I realize this thread is really old - but if anyone gets this far, and still can't get it to go, make sure you do a HARD reset on teh PDA. I struggled for hours trying to get the "serial port" service to change to "activesync" and nothing worked. As a hail mary, I did a hard reset, and when it came up, it worked first try. Been running solid since. I used the tutorial listed here: http://axim.dpicts.com/ Everythign lined up, except I just couldn't get the BT services to change from serial port to activesync.

The only thing that has worked for me is to run a bluetooth PAN while at the same time running the AS. The theory is that this has something to do with how BT interacts with AS and some Firewalls. The work around is to set up a BT personal area network and then run AS and the fire wall will play nice. I do not understand it but it works.
