X51v - CF card disappears

New to this so please bare with me....

Without any to do, my CF card seems to disappear and becomes invisible. I am not able to access the card at all.

The only way to get access to it again is to remove the battery, wait a few seconds and reboot.

Is this normal? What can I do to avoid my CF card going missing???

Well known problem. Associated with the "won't turn on" without a soft reset problem. Dell is working on a fix that should be here soon. Untill then, you will have to soft reset. Some people report that leaving Bluetooth on all the time fixes the problem.

Did you try leave BT on to see if it helps with the problem?

Setting up an ActiveSync connection with a server (either real or fake) and then changing sync options to manual seems to fix the probelm as well and dosen't require you to have bluetooth turned on. The server connection is neccessary to allow you to change the sync options (the option is grayed-out otherwise).

Loss of CF Card

I applied the false exchange server mod and also another "fix" reported somewhere in these threads - rename the CF Card with the highly original name "CF Card" using a card writer in the PC (either re-format or re-name). I was regularly losing the CF card before these and haven't since.

Running with A04 an SD and a CF card in the machine all the time. Now highly reliable the false server mod is worth its weight in platinum. :)
