ActiveSync Won't Connect

The last time my Axim x51v active-synced was Saturday, and now the ActiveSync icon in the system tray is gray, and if I open it, it says "Not Connected". Most menu options are grayed out, and it cannot detect a mobile device. I tried a different USB port. I don't know what changed - I've only had it about two weeks and it has been syncing automatically. I reinstalled ActiveSync from the CD (actually chose the Repair option.)

Help! What can I try? Should I open a ticket with Dell for this?

Do a cntrl-alt-del and check the running processes and look for wcescomm.exe, this is active sync running in the background, you can end process and try restarting it from the start menu and see if that helps. Try a soft reset on the PPC and then reconnect it also.

I had a simular problem. I just had to
uninstall everything activesync related and reinstall
from scratch.

If you are using async ver. 4.0 go to Microsoft and download ver. 4.1. The version that shipped with my Dell x51v was ver. 4.0. This was a beta version of the new async. and was prone to problems....

All good suggestions, I will start working through them today -- I found that I can't ping the device, and it seems that I should be seeing something about a Mobile Device on my network connections and there is no such entry. Also reading here it sounds like I should be seeing an entry in the Device Manager, and there is none.

I see to have a worse problem, it seems like all my USB ports are dead.
