WiFi looses IP Address when putting X51v into Cradle?

hi all,

i just noticed the following behavior on my X51v which i never experienced with my X50v (WM2003):

I turn on WiFi and everything works fine. As soon as I put the PDA into the cradle it gets another IP address (which is fine for me), but loses the IP address of the WiFi connection. When I remove it from the cradle it gets the previous WiFi IP address and WiFi works again.

Is this normal behavior?
Is there any trick known to stop WM2005 from doing this?

thanks a lot,
Daniel

I saw a post about this the other day. It seems that Microsoft thinks this is a security issue and disables wi-fi when there is an activesync connection.

The post had a link to a piece of software that will correct this. It is by Airscanner and can be downloaded here http://airscanner.com/downloads/airfix/airfix.html.

If you are using the cradle to charge and don't care if it connects you could disconnect the usb cable and it should stop that.

the issue is that i do exactly what the guys over at airscanner.com describe: i develop a networked software. while i could reconfigure my application to use the virtual connection i would have to reconfigure it again when working without the cradle...

anyway, the trick to kill connmgr.exe works great. thx for the link!

Its normal for me. I thinks its normal for all WM5 devices. Stupid if you ask me.

Its cause Acstivesync uses a LAN connection to sync data. It has to reassign the axim a new IP to get it to transfer. Stupid huh? A laptop and or desktop can have a ton of IP address (most i've ever tried is 4 ) I guess the axim can only handle one at a time?
