x51v Registry Hack

Hello, everyone,

For everyone who hates how the x51v scrolls in PIE, Hyperlink to Hyperlink, there is a fix so when you use the scroll button it goes from page to page. I found this on the Pocket PC Thoughts website and even though they thought it would not work on the x51v I found out that it does.

You will need a registry editor to this:
Goto: HKLM/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/INTERNET EXPLORER/NAVIGATION/ THEN CLICK ON 4-WAY NAV AND CHANGE THE VALUE DATA FROM 1 TO 0 and you will then scroll page to page and not hyperlink to hyperlink.

registry editor

Where do you find a registry editor. That may fix that bluetooth receiver problem I have with the navteq not reading the gps receiver.

Thanx on two accounts. I've so much wanted both a registry editor and the ability to bypass links when pushing the down key.

I wonder if it has any side effects, like the down arrow not behaving as expected on games etc? Time will tell, but I guess unless the game is in an IE window, it shouldn't have any side affects!

Now - it's time I browsed some more registry keys

If you only changed the key as specified, "HKLM/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/INTERNET EXPLORER/NAVIGATION/" there isn't anyway a game should be effected by that.
Look at the key. It is specifically for Internet Explorer's navigation.

What I was getting at is: What if the game used the down arrow to jump to the next link. That is highly possible with a text-based game, but I wonder if it is also possible with a java-applet-type game?

There're a lot of them to choose from; check out http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/men...tryEditors.asp for a complete list/review. Almost all of them will be OK for this operation.
