I was working on the Axim yesterday and when I clicked something the screen looked like a television with static reception. A lot of black and white horizontal lines, if I clicked the shadowy icon the screen would partially come up clear. Close that screen to today and it was all static. I did a soft reset and it was ok, worked on it another hour and it was fine.
Yeah, I've had this problem. It hasn't occurred lately though, now that you mention it. A soft reset would fix it, but it is an annoying problem. I have done the "Leave BT on" and "Activesync fake server" hacks. Maybe they fixed it? Good luck...

i have had this problem when using older software that does not run native vga, especially older games that I can't run but tried to run. Were you trying to run old software?
Had the same snow screen problem last night in IE soft reset fixed
have new X51v with A06 and "Activesync schedule fix"
Also still get locked up frequently requiring soft reset and also verrrrry slowwww start up from standby. also sometimes gets warm. the activesync fix didnt resolve any of the above problems
Havent tried hard reset yet???
I hope Dell and MS are looking through this stuff because so far I am not impressed with my Dell product or WM5.
My Rx3715 has non of these problems.
One more point
I mentioned in an earlier posting that I thought the Wireless connection was sluggish.
I bought the Socket wifi companion softare and loaded on both PDa's the HP Rx3715 picked up signals much faster and with stronger signals than the x51v and picked up a number that the x51v missed completely

Have you messed around with Odyssey Client? If you have, the slow startup might have caused by that. Try diabling Odyssey. Also, you must have installed a lot of non-wm5 compatible software on your x51v. I have quite a few apps installed on my x51v and they are all wm5 compatible except e-sword. So far, my x51v starts up right away from a standby. List all your apps that are installed and we might be able to tell you which ones are causing the problem you are having.

I wanted to stress the Odyssey thing a little stronger. If the little sailing ship icon is on the toolbar then it is running even if you aren't using it, open it up and 'exit' from the program. It will not start after a softreset that way. That was absolutely killing my startups and performance.
Thanks for the help
Have done Hard reset and installing programs one by one to check for problem
Used Odysseything but closed it down and no icon shows
Programs using before reset:
pocket breeze 5.01
Pocket weather latest version
Spb Time
PI 5 V4
Socket WiFi companion latest WM5 download
Skype latest Beta version
Resco file explorer latest version
Resco picture viewer ( from Axim CD)
Code wallet 2005
Tomtom 5.1 with NA maps on 1 gig CF card
wmp 10 Music on 1 gig SD card
I did mess with Odyssey, but I did use exit to shut it down.
I just plugged the X51v into the docking station this morning and it came on with vertical static lines this time, turned it on and off a few times and the lines changed to different patterns. Had to do a soft reset again and everything is ok again.

I have had this problem on multiple X51v's. The most recent running A06 with no third party apps installed.
Hope Dell/MS fix this soon. It is a real drag.
What amazes me is that DELL are stilling selling these PDAs knowing the amount of problems they have. I can see a large class action lawsuit down the line.
