Keep x51v or x50v?

Here is the story... I have an x50v with the WM5 upgrade. Everytime I install it, it no longer syncs (it just spins and spins until it gives up) (using ActiveSync 4.1.0 b4841). I try it on a different computer, same thing. I have read and tried everything with no luck. So I call Dell, go through the tech support with no luck so they sent me another x50v. Same problem. I give up and roll back to 2003 and it syncs just fine. So I call Dell and tell them... thinking it is something with the upgrade. They sent me the x51v thinking it would solve the problem... nope. Same thing. It just spins.

So, do I keep the x51v that doesn't sync or the x50v that does sync but is the older model?

alot of time ...this has to do with additional settings WITHIN windows own firewall ...look here:

http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/acti...p2firewall.htm

when I first encounter these problems way back ... I too did all I could about third party firewall ... but the final thing that I need to do additionally was WINXP's own firewall settings ...had to doublecheck those IP ### to get the traffic going ;) ... ( for me, the custom list IP is "169.254.2.0/255.255.255.0" as outline in this page and was automatically done by Activesync initially...search for line read "169.254.2.0/255.255.255.0"

.. try this IP or you can also try the IP specify at the above link to see which one works for you:

~~~~~if this helped you out ...do come back & let others know so they also can benefit from the experience ;)
