files copied using SD reader cannot be read on X50V

I'm running a Dell 700M notebook which includes a SD card reader. I simply plug my SD card into my notebook, copy a movie file over and then put the card back into my Pocket PC.

However, when I browse to look for the files with my X50V (Windows Mobile 2003), the files are not there.

Any suggestions?

Does using the "Safely remove hardware" on the laptop and/or doing a soft reset on the PDA have any effect?

try a simple text file for a check also. It may be the video format your using is not recognized.

Good point. Are you not seeing the files at all, not even in a file manager, or not finding the files in the application you are using to play the videos?

Yeah, I use the "safely remove hardware" function every time I remove the SD card from the reader. The next thing I tried was a simple text file, with a short name, SAMPLE.TXT, and when I checked it via the File Manager, I couldn't see it. I tried using TCPMP to browse the media file, but it was not there.

I did manage to do a soft reset, and after a soft reset, I can see the items. But requiring a soft reset everytime is a little annoying.

What seems to work for me and TCPMP is putting the card back in my ppc when it's turned on.

File Explorer

If you're still using the WM File Explorer, it's no wonder - that one is junk.

I'd recommend Total Commander, found at www.ghisler.com
