Old ROM ? New x51v with A00 ???
Hi,
1) I ordered a X51v 01/17/06, received it the 01/23/06. The ROM is A00 (english, I'm in the US). Is that normal ?
I thought all new units were shipped with at least A01...
2) I plan to upgrade to A06, however :
a) the support page for A06 says "Axim X51/X51v, v.WWE, A01". As I'm A00 and not A01, should I care ?
b) is there a place where I can find old ROM for the x51v in case I want to downgrade (and is it possible for all ROMs ?). I just managed to find A04 on Dell's support site.
c) during the upgrade process, is the current ROM backed-up somewhere ?
Thanks in advance for any advice,
Eya

When I got mine in december (in Canada), that was the ROM shipped with my unit.
I went directly from A00 to A06. Be careful, with upgrades and versions, it seems odd number A01, etc are for X51 and even numbers are for X51V.

You can go straight to A06.
No, there is no backup of your old ROM created.
That isn't true about the ROM numbers.
X51 and X51v have matched up until X51v got A06 and X51 still had A05.
They both had A04, A01, etc.

Thanks for your answers.
Unfortunately, I couldn't upgrade, because since this morning I have a WSOD at boot. Soft Reset didn't work, and many hard resets didn't solve anything :-((
And it seems that I need to have activesync working for upgrading.
Dell is shipping me a new unit... My workmate is going to buy a Palm T|X...
