Hmm Alarms and Reminders Not Working

I have an Axim X51v and all of a sudden, my reminders and alarms stopped working. I've tried to "trick" it by changing the time and then synchronizing it and that didn't work. I've installed the ROM A06 update followed by a hard reset and both reminders and alarms still don't work. The interesting thing is that the screen turns on and it beeps but the option to "snooze" or "dismiss" does not pop up. It just flashes and beeps and beeps and beeps...

As I'm typing, it's beeping and the power light is flashing green. This is the only problem I've had with my Axim. Can anyone help?

I did another hard reset last night and only re-installed the basic programs I need and it's working today. I'm trying to think back to the program I installed both times when it stopped working and I think it's the Dell Self Diagnostic Utility or Battery Pack Light. Did you install those?

I had this problem but found a "Fix"...

All I did was...
1) Go into the volume control on the Today Screen and adjust the volume.
...first made the volume louder then set it back to where it originally was
2) Go to the Sounds & Notifications app. in Settings and select a new sound for the reminder (on the notification tab)
3) Play the new sound
4) Go back into the Sounds & Notifications app. in the Settings and reselect the original reminder sound
5) Play the sound

Once I did this, the reminders & notifications (with sound) worked!

I know this "Fix" sounds stupid, but it worked for me!

Hope it helps you.

I dont have those installed.
The only thing I have yet to try is the hard reset. I will play with it some more tonight and see if I can figure it out. I also thought about updating to A06 since mine is still in A01.

Mine is still working since the hard reset and update. Thanks for the fix above, hopefully I won't have to use it!

Bad news, it stopped working again today. So frustrating! What good is a PDA that can't remind you of your appointments? Who cares if it can do all these fancy things, it's pretty much useless without doing the simple things.

Well, although I think it's crazy for a PDA's reminders not working (my X51v's reminders stopped working only a week after I purchased it), I never felty I absolutely needed them to work.

But an odd thing today - they started working. It may only be temporary, but this is how mine started to work again -

I performed a soft reset. but, not with pushing the button in the rear of the X51v, but by using the soft reset function that comes with Pocket Controller (a program I find indispensable). Weird.

Pocket Controller? What does that do? Mine still doesn't work. I use it for business so it's completely useless. I got back to the office after a day on the road and had 7 reminders pop up on my laptop when I synchronized. Missed most of those appointments!

Guess there's always tomorrow.....

I absolutely concur. I've had this happen 3 times since November, with all versions of the ROM upgrade (A01, A04, A06).

It appears to be a long standing problem throughout the CE/PPC/WM5 continuum, and absolutely unacknowledged/admitted by Microsoft. I suffered it during my first break from Palm usage (an iPAQ 3800), and still remember the amazement when, after returning to Palm, the Palm beeped at its first appointment.

Dell knows about it, according to the 3rd-level U.S.-based tech I've spoken with. As you've discovered, the only fix seems to be a hard reset.

I've got a (bogus) recurring meeting set up every morning, to serve as an early warning that the alarm functionality has once again quit working.

Good luck!

I have a x51v (A06) and I am getting the same problem with notifications. I have used MemMaid,"Check Notifications", and all the suggetions I have found so far on this great website. No luck. I have also heard here that swapping out for a new one alos doesn't solve the problem. I am thinking of doing a hard reset but I am reluctant. Any more ideas?

Thanks

Icon14 pmClean worked for me

Hi all, love this site and the helpful people that make it great! I have a new Axim x51v and notifications stopped working after a weeks worth of use. Two days ago was my mom's birthday, and I had a yearly reocurring reminder. After that, reminders stopped working. I tried the freeware pmClean a previous member referred to, checked the boxes and then hit clean. I created a test event on my calendar for 2 minutes in the future, set the reminder for 0 minutes and forced an activesync (because I sync with an exchange OWA server, not with desktop), the appointment appeared on my calendar and the next minute, that cool FFVII wav file I setup yesterday for reminders played!

I hope this works for some of the rest of you who are still struggling. I haven't tried memmaid or the Dell utility, didn't need to.

Thanks All!
