I have experienced the white screen of death several times lately and it seems to be happening more frequently. I've noticed that it happens more often when I am plugging a charger in or unplugging but it also happened while I was just using it.
What is it and what can I do to prevent it from happening? Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug that we all have to live with?
Thanks

Thanks I will give it a look.
As for your question, I have been tweaking active sync since the day I got the thing. Finally just getting it working. Also yesterday just added a SD card and put some tunes on it for those slow days at work, when I want to drown all the idiots out.
I've noticed now that when ever I recharge this super high capasity 2 minute battery this thing has, is when the problem is most likely to occur. Another clue maybe??

Humm!
The only time I encountered the WSOD was when I was running the ROM version A01 and I put the Axim on its cradle while the Axim turn off. Now with ROM A06, I can put the Axim on its Cradle either with the Axim on or off. Mind you my "off" is the standby mode not the full shutdown.
I had the WSOD prio ro updating to A06 and applying the 'Fake Server Trick'. Since I have done these two things, 2 months ago, I have had zero issues with my X51V. No battery drain, no WSOD issues, no 'Does Not Turn On' issues. no lost CF or SD cards. My unit works great and is rock solid.

Using X51v, 1 gig SD and CF card, Version A06, using fake server trick, its been good for weeks, THEN this morning WHAM!! White screen of Death for the first time, Only thing I can attribute it to is leaving WiFi turned on earlier this morning, then when I got to work I plugged it into the cradle before turning it on, WSOD occurred, the WiFi had not been turned off.
Seems OK after a soft reset, Guess I won't leave the WiFi on, Huhh
Wait and See..

i was fine for a while myself with the active sync tweak and A06.
But lately, i've noticed that even when the axim isn't in the charging cradle, or being used... just turned off and put on the table, the WSOD sometimes just pops up and you can't do anything excep push the home button to get it up (the power button doesn't work either) which is soo weird... i have to reset it then turn it off again it works fine...
I performed the quick sync fix that you told me to try and it worked great.
Thanks to everyone for the help. My Axim is work just fine now.
Thanks again
Nimo
I get the WSOD almost every time if I turn off my Axim while I have WiFi active. Is there any known fix for that? I have already done the fake server ActiveSync thing. (ROM A06)
I get the WSOD when I put my x51v in the cradle while it's off. A06 and the ActiveSync server trick make no difference.
Not really a big deal for me, because I can turn it on and put it in the cradle with one hand. It's almost second nature now (I had to go twice when I went to test if WSOD still happened, because I had already turned it on before putting it in without even realizing).

Where did you find the A06 download? I only see the A05 update available on Dell's download site.

You are dead on the money!!!
I have solved this issue and contacted dell with the solution, hopefully they will patch it with an upgrade soon. I just got off the phone with them less than 10mins ago (4-5-06). The problem is you can NOT dock your DELL AXIM X51V in the OFF MODE with WIRELESS ENABLED. You can DOCK the AXIM in the ON MODE with wireless enabled, OR in the OFF MODE with wireless disabled. BUT REPEAT, you can NOT dock the dell axim x51v in the OFF MODE with WIRELESS ENABLED.
when I do a hard reset, do I need to reinstall A06 or is that automatic once youve done it once?
I'm also having a lot of problems with WSOD and battery drain. I have my Axim X51v set to turn off after 3 minutes of not using but it still drains to nothing overnight if I leave it out. Does the wifi keep it on somehow? could my SD card somehow be to blame?
