wififofum with an x51

I use wififofum with my x51 and it shows all access point fine but I seem to have a lot of trouble jumping on open networks once i find them. Can some ppl run threw the procedure they use when looking for open networks then jumping onto them?

Wififofum can only detect WEP encryption, so if they're using some other method to keep strangers out then that could be why it thinks the point is open yet you still can't get on.

Unfortuantely you're right, Ministumbler doesn't work with x51v. I really do like that app too. There's always the built in Odyssey Client that comes with all the wifi x5x series pdas, I think it might be able to tell you what kind of encryption the network is using, but I haven't used that a lot myself. I have managed to connect to weak open networks with Odyssey when the Dell wifi utility couldn't.

Its not just encryption you have to check. On my wifi at home I have encryption turned off but it will only accept connections from known mac addresses.

True...but there's no software available to detect that one.
