X51V - Boot issue, activesync issue, blutooth issue, SD card issue...

Well, I bought a new x51v about a week ago as a birthday present from me to me, and it has worked within expectations perfectly for the last week.

I expirienced the same issues that seem to be common with respect to boot problems and SD cards -- however, reading the forums, this problem seems to be unique.

I left it off of the cradle last night, with the SD card in. It appears to have drained the battery (although not all the way, becuase I could use it this morning). However, after charging the unit for a while, I decided to try pairing it with my bluetooth headset. This of course did nothing productive --

The unit started behaving strangely -- saying that there were shortcut errors on my iLaunch icons. I naturally tried another icon. Same thing. I tried the "home" button (hardware). Same shortcut error.

Soft reset-

The unit booted to the password screen. I entered the password and it locked up. I reset again.

Same thing -- I waited this time for 5-6 minutes and it booted to a today screen that I had not set up. It had a different background (not even the default, strange) and my iLaunch bar was gone. Instead of "start menu" it read "notification error" and the menu has two items: "today" and "coldinit"

Nothing else

I can't use the device like this, because it has about a 30 second delay from each screen touch.

If anyone can offer anything I am open to suggestions.

thanks

edit---

Tech support is going to ask for a hard reset. that will remove the possibility that its a program you have insalled. so you might as well try it.

I would not blame your actions. I have never removed my SD card and often leave it undocked.

To perform hard reset, press and hold the power button, then use the stylus to hold down the reset button for about 2 seconds.

HArd reset?
Hold down power and the soft reset poke in the back and it should ask you if you want to return to factory defualt or remain the same and you return to factory defualt
IF this doesn't work

all is fixed. thanks all for your help.

Note for people with this problem:

You will not have a successful hard-reboot with the SD card in the slot.

REMOVE THE CARD
