X51v Keeps Dropping Recognition Of CF Card

Hi all,
Looking for some help. Just bought a new x51v, and added an SD card and a lexar 2gb CF card. The PDA recognizes both cards, but keeps dropping recognition of the CF card. I tried a different card....same result. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks. Rick

This is all over the forum. WM5 on the X51/X50 loses track of some memory cards.

It constantly loses all my CF cards but almost never one of my SD cards.

Try a search and you'll find more information.

There is a sticky note posting on this site that covers this and suggests a fix. I have applied this fix late last year and since doing the 'Fake Server Trick' I have not lost a SD or CF card even a single time. It works great IMHO. In addition make sure you have upgraded your ROM to A06 if it is not at the revision level. Doing both of these has fixed all of the issues I have had with my X51V from the start. Its not rock solid for my use and of course IMHO.

It sounds like the fake server trick will work in your situation, but try using the CFcard in another device (card reader/digital camera/etc.). I recently had a defective SD card which would not recognize in ANY device I put it in (desktop, laptop, PDA). I had the fake server trick applied as well. I'm sending the card back today for replacement.
