won't turn on and won't respond after soft reset

My x51v had been rock solid stable for 2 months until today. First it won't turn on. So, I did a soft reset. Now, it is on, however, it won't respond to anything. I can't turn it off either. It would turn itself off after 2 mins as it used to do. I ejected the SD and insert it back in, then, the backlight comes on. However, no respond whatsoever, like tapping or button.

I didn't install anything into it lately. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

lock button is not locked. It was working last night before I went to bed.

The clock is at the right time. So, should it be some kind of a software issue? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The general maxim (maxim for an Axim! .... sorry!) is to try a soft reset two or three times. idf that doesn't sort it, you will need to go for a hard reset. You don't mention having tried that so maybe the best way forward.

Cheers,
Rob

I have done quite a few soft reset already. Whenever it is booted up, things are frozen(kinda). I will try to dock it into the cradle tonight and leave it there for 30 mins to see if it will unfreeze itself. Also, I suspect SKTOOL(forgot the exact name) is expiring today. I wonder if it is in a infinite loop trying to do something. I will try to see if I can uninstall it from ActiveSync. Man, it is very frustrated...

remove the battery for a minute or so then reinsert . It sould restart and ask you if you want to hard reset choose the no icon I think its button 3 email
it should then go to a sotf reset but your date will be back to July 2005. Reset the date and all is Ok again

Dont know what causes it thought

When you insert the battery back in, did it ask you to hard reset automatically? I removed the battery for like 5 mins, put it back and I had to hit the reset button to reset. But it is still doing the same thing. sigh...

I think i have to press the power on button but pressing the reset should do the same thing to get it restarted

One more thought:
I think if you can not get it to startup and you are just about to go to the hard rest then try this

Press the back reset pin and Power on at the same time but when the screen asks you do you want to hard reset choose no which if i remember correctly it is the 3rd button or email button
it should then just soft rest.

Hope that helps

You know what. I can't even do a hard reset. When I hit the reset button/hole and Power Button, it asked to hit the Task button to reset or Mail button to cancel. None of the button is working.

Anybody ecountered this before?

Thanks

I am glad I have 2 year warranty. However, I don't know why it doesn't work suddenly. I am getting a replacement, however, it is not a brand new unit...oh well...

After leaving the battery out overnite the computer did do a hard reset after reinserting the battery, don't know why, other symptoms were the same as yours.

Now my soft resets are very very slow, the wireless light flashes, the screen doesn't respond, I'd say a soft reset takes 3 to 4 minutes, but I haven't timed it.

I also locks up for no apparent reason, running the same software on my WM2003SE X50v with no problems, must be a software clash, but don't know what's causing it.

Hopefully the next OS update will help.

Live Long and Prosper,
Jim
