problems sychronizing with outlook

wondering if anyone has encountered this problem: ''Cannot synchronize w/outlook profile coz a different profile was previously set up or it was password-protected. Open outlook w/appropriate profile. support code-8503001f.''
to cut the story short, I terminated the activesync connection with my pc & now, when I try to establish a new connection, my pc is unable to detect my axim though it is placed in the cradle. am I missing something?

That sounds pretty crazy! I would suggest doing a little uninstall work on you ActiveSync on your computer. By doing that you will clean out whatever it is trying to tell is going on and you should be able to set up a new connection just fine. Also, if you don't have too much on your axim, you could do a hard reset there so you get 2 clean systems....but I would like to say that I DON'T recommened tha hard reset, I think it is a pain to get back all the data and programs just how I had them. One other thing, make sure that all the profiles are deleted from ActiceSync - this is done by going into ActiveSync, clicking 'File' and selecting 'Delete Mobile Device'. This should make your computer forget your device and hopefully work again.

Aximsitex3icon cover the basics

to get the PC to recognize the wm5 ppc open your device manager (start, control panel, system, hardware, device manager) and look around you will find the broken device (check usb controllers for unknown device etc) just right click and uninstall it, disconnect the ppc, reboot the pc. once the pc comes back up reconnect the ppc.

for the original error try installing the Office XP SP3 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en) and then run windows update to get newer outlook xp updates not included in sp3.

also if you are running a firewall be sure to check out the microsoft activesync troubleshooting guide (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...c/default.mspx)

make sure you have the auto sync set to manual as well just for good measure ;) (see sticky - fake server trick)

thanks. I did just that following another thread on this site & it worked without having to do any hard reset on my unit.
