Aximsitex50icon Dead Speaker (Unofficial) Fix

My X51v's speaker suddenly stopped working the other day, and after some gnashing of teeth I managed to get it working again, thanks, ironically, to pure frustration.

I was totally confused, followed all the troubleshooting advice on the Dell website and on forums, to no avail. The kicker was that plugging in headphones worked perfectly, I couldn't work out what the hell was going on. The only thing I had done to cause the problem was to leave my headphones plugged in overnight!

Anyway, the last resort was going to be to go back to Dell for a replacement, but I managed to solve the problem (in a fit of pique) by taking the head phone plug and grinding it around the inside of the jack on the Axim! Problem solved!

Now obviously I don't recommend doing that if you have the same issue (I work in tech support myself, so I should've known better really), I'm just sharing my thoughts with everyone :)

Good to know you got it working agian. I've heard of this problem with the X50 series, lets just hope your case is a unique one, not something wide spread

Welcome to Aximsite by the way....

Mad Another dead speaker

Thanks for the tip

I just plugged my headphones in for the first time - and then boom - no more sound

Thanks to a judicious (and agressive) wiggle - I have sound again.

Nice work

Allan
