please help retrieve backup data from wm2003

My axim x30, running wm2003, died, so i bought an x51v, running wm5.0, to replace it. the problem is that before i got rid of my x30, i made a backup file with all my vital info. when i tried to use it on my new x51v, it wouldnt read it.

i feel so stupid, i should have realized it would not be compatible. bc, i coincidentally also got a new pc and never thought of backing up my outlook, i cant rely on that for the info.

all i have is this backup file. PLEASE reply with solutions. if i have to buy another wm2003 pda just to get the data, that would be really annoying, but i am desperate. so please, if u have any ideas, let me know!!

How did you create the backup file?

using activesync 3.8. the new activesync (4) for wm5.0 doesnt help and teh x51v wont recognize the backup file.

As I understand, you have to restore the backup to another X30, sync to Outlook and then synch Outlook to the new X51v. Maybe someone living near daverose808 has a working X30 that he can borrow?

i had a similar problem restoring my backup from a dead ipaq. HP is using Sprite Backup software so all I had to do is to install Sprite on my new PPC and everything got restored. I could be mistaken but I think that the way it works - it backs up itself locally and active sync only transferres the file to PC.

that way makes sense. instead of me borrowing someone's axe, maybe someone would be willing to let me email them my backup file. then they could put the info on outlook, create an outlook backup and send me that.

i know its a big favor, but is anyone interested in being my axim buddy?

An even better idea. Sorry, but I've got an x50v. Good luck!

I've got an X5 with 2003SE, but I don't know how well that would work.....

Same OS, slightly different hardware.....

But I'll be glad to try.....

Yah, no worries though. I don't mind screwing it up anyhow. Its sitting in my closet collecting dust. I really only use my X51 anyway.....
