Flight Mode

How come the flight mode turns itself on a different times--it is the icon in the upper right corner of the screen. After I do a solt reset, it will usually be running when the pda comes back on. I am running the rom A06, windows mobile, and x51v. Thanks, John

When flight mode is "on," all the wireless (BT and WiFi) is off, so there really isn't anything running when it's set to on.

Maybe the real question is - what's the flipping purpose for that feature?!

The use is for when your are on an airplane, flight mode disables all wireless technologies as they can possibly interfere with cabin systems on an aircraft. Hence "flight" mode....

Does anyone else notice the flight mode icon "spinning" and coming on by itself--after a soft reset or any other time--if so, how can I prevent this. Thanks, john

I have noticed it once or twice, usually stop it by enabling and disabling wireless but I don't know a permanent fix. I haven't seen it happen recently and I don't know what actually cause it in the first place....

Some people may wish to listen to MP3's, play games, or use the organizer on their phone while in flight, having the feature allows them to do this without interupting any signals on the plane.

Cause if you don't have the flight mode turned on while in flight you can't use the phone for anything. at least if it has the flight mode you can use it for phonebook, whatever games and music is on it.

Tap the two way arrows+X icon (if just BT is active) or the antenna icon (if WiFi is active) on the top bar of the Today page and select "Turn on flight mode." As far as I can tell with the X51, it really doesn't do anything more than pressing the hardware button or selecting each of the bottom icons and turning off BT nd WiFi.

My Motorola Slvr also has plane mode. Since it has a built in MP3 player it makes sense. The only reason I see a Razr to have plane mode is so you can play games on the plane.

"Ike: it really doesn't do anything more than pressing the hardware button"

On my x3i it's not so:

When you turn OFF the flight button the connection resumes on the present/last channel.

But the HW-button initiates a new channel search and therefore it takes a longer time to connect (again).

Anyone know if flight mode consumes any more power than turning off the wireless through the hardware or soft buttons?
