windows media player problems

has anyone else had a problem with windows media player like this one:

I used pocket dvd studio to convert some stuff to wmv format. I put it on my sd card and into my axim x51v to play and thats where the problems started. I can click on the file in the axim and it opens up and starts playing in the default media player screen, but if i try and switch to full screen mode it stops playing and the axim freezes up. What is the deal!!!

Also ontop of that, i have tried to install some of the extra games and programs that came on the disk shipped with my axim and they arent working right either. they install to the axim just fine, but when I go to open them up they dont work and freeze up also.

the problems seem to occur when programs are trying to switch to full screen. does anyone know what is causing these problems.

I contacted dell support and they are sending me a new axim. maybe i just received a bad unit.

hopefully someone out there knows something about this problem.
thanks, Craig

I had a very similar problem when I went to full screen. I was never able to figure out what started it so I just stopped using WMP and began using TSPMP (link: http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1080). I can't help you troubleshoot it but there is a better work around. I love this new player, its free and allows for numerous plugins.

I just find it stupid that the Windows Media mobile player doesn't play WMV! That's a Windows Media Video format!

Mine locks up too. It's a pain. I've been also using TCPMP player. It never locks up. However, it runs large action packed WMV poorly. I burn in AVI now. The only problem with AVI format is sometimes the sound is static with certain voices. Crackles at times when people talk.

Is this a hardware problem or software?? I really don't want to go through the trouble of switching out my Axim if it's software.
