Cool Greetings from a new X51v owner. Oh, and a question...

Hullo fellow PDA owners :).

I'm a n00b to this site, but I've been tinkering quite happily with my new Axim X51v for about a week now. I've got most things sorted out through sheer determination but there is one little matter that still bugs me...

I know you can achieve an internet connection whilst connected to the USB charging cradle, but this link does not allow access to my home network. I'm currently using the VM Network Browser (demo), and when I'm connected via wireless I can browse both the internet and my local network shares without any problems. But when I connect via the cradle I can only access the internet and the shares on the PC that the cradle is physically wired to, not those on any of my other PCs (4 others).

Is there a way to establish a full network link from the USB cradle?

(Yes, I know if I unplug the USB lead from the PC and connect via wireless it'll work, but that seems like a rather unnecessary workaround)

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide :).

Scott in the good ol' U of K ;).

We use to have a saying at GE. "Its Dumb, I like it". That was in reference to the latest Stupid Management stratagy. There are several stupidities in the networking stratagy. This is one. Leaving out BT profiles is annother. Unlike BT this has a workaround. Connect to sync and wifi for file transfer.

Yup, I thought that might be the case .

Oh well, I can live with it I guess. It would just be nice to be able to browse the network while the unit is charging. I know I could use the charging adapter and the mains lead but the connection doesn't feel 'robust' enough to me to handle being moved around much. Maybe it would have been better if the Axim had a dedicated socket for the mains lead as well as the sync connector, but like you said, it's dumb, so someone must have liked it that way.

I guess I'm just a fussy git that wants everything his own way :p.

My work around is I play with it until the battery goes dead, then I charge it and do something else. I consider it a time management thing. Otherwise I would be sitting there all night.
