Question X51V does not recognize CF I 4GB

Hi together,

I got my new X51V today with A06 and I already made that Fake Server procedure but my CF with 4GB won't work.

I tried a CF with 64MB ( from a digital camera ). This works.
And also the 4GB CF works in a Siemens PPC and with a card reader I also have access to the 4GB compact flash.

Every time I put in the 4GB CF the X51V mentions "Unrecognized card. Enter the name of the device driver for this card. ..."

Has anybody experience with CF bigger than 2GB in a X51V ???

If this is already posted somewhere else I didn't found it.
Thanks for your help !

Sounds like your CF card was not made for PPC use. I would contact the people you got it from and ask them to confirm it will work with a PPC. If they cannot then I would send it back. This has happened with a 5GB Seagate CF card with several others. The Seagate CF micro drives were made for internal and external use (example a micro drive for a Ipod and will not work in an external application, example X51V CF inserted card).

Yeah, I am sure.

Info from Dell:
"Jens,Although there are CF and SD cards larger than 2 GB available, at RTS Dell will only support cards up to 2 GB."

Info from Viking:
"According to our configurator, Dell only accepts up to a 2 gig CF card.
If Dell is telling you differently, please let us know."

Thank you !

Have a good one.

- Support Above 2gb

There are many people who use above 2 gig.

The Seagate 5gb drive is supported, or atleast it works. Dell is saving its own ass by not "supporting" items that they have not personally tested.

If they told you it supported higher, and you bought one that did not work, then you would blame them. They know that 2gb cards work, so they support you using it.

Hi real1st, how did you get your Seagate 5gb to work? I just got mine (Seagate 5GB ST1 drive) today, but my X51v cannot read it.

Its a case of bad luck for you. Seems like the axim doesn' like that specific card. Kind of like how certain cd/dvd medias don't work with certain dvd/cd-roms.

I I had a 2gb card(crappy brand) that would only work on my laptop but not on my ppc. Try to format it on your pc using fat32. People have used 8gb cards on the axim so its not that problem..

Btw, what brand is that card?

Good luck.

Axim x51v works very well with 8 GB CF card !

Hi !
Guys...what the hell you wrote about ?

Axim x51v works excelently with Transcend 8 GB CF card - 120x. I have 4 of them ....no problemo. -Movies, pictures, music, TomTom. Very recently I bought A-Data 8 GB card - this is a junk I agree:exc:...doesn't work on Axim ...simply is unvisible and Axim doesn't see it. Do not pay attention what Dell is talking about this issue

What a load of misinformation! If you are using English ROM A06 then you can update to English ROM AO12. this will fix Lots of your problems! First get the latest software from Dell, make sure your cards are formatted FAT or FAT32,
you should be able to run as fast as you PC
