Question Copying contents from 1 SD card to another - HELP needed!

No! I do know how to copy contents, have a multi-memory card reader/writer with the pc.

The scanario is that I have recently purchased a 2gb SD card for the X51v. My old one was a 1gb card (which I will use as a spare backup).

Want to copy the contents of the 1gb card to the 2gb card. So thought all I had to do was to insert SD card 1gb into my c/reader. Then copy & paste onto pc all the folders/files. Then insert the new 2gb SD card into reader/writer & trf the files from PC onto it

All files/folders seem to be there with no exceptions. Inserted into the PPC & the PPC recognises the SD card but each time I try to load up an App'n it states ...

"The file ****, cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file"

Pls do not say I have to wipe it clean & re-install ALL 1gb's worth of data???

Any ideas from the Axim members would be most appreciated

I hadn't realised this would be so much of an issue before?

As extra info when I insert the old SD card into the PPC it works fine? Do I need a DONGLE?

check if you have the show hidden file option turn on in your PC? If not, then go to file option, check the show hidden file option. I think there is a DRM folder that is hidden.

it sound like you have either hard reset your device & haven't do the "mandatory" steps to it since you last had the old card and now transferring files to the new card ... are you sure you didn't left out any info while asking for help ???

by the look of your error ... I say you need to do these 2 things !!! ( edited ... I see that you have updated your post and that the old card works fine ... so never mind about the link...:) )

and yes ... agreed with what "lizardeye" said ... if you did not "show all" files ... chances are ... not "ALL" files are copy over !!! ... do a bits by bits volume comparision and you will see if it is all there ...

select all files and choose properties and see ... now compare that to the new card doing the same ... is the volume size identical ???

Did you rename your old card? Or do the cards have the same name? I don't know if that will help it's just a suggestion.

Try using Ice Mirror (freeware) from www.icegraphics.com - I have done exactly what you are doing and it has done perfect copies everytime - if you do a full mirror from one card to another it will clone the one to the other and it should then work when you insert it.

Thanks for that, will use the ice mirror approach & see if that helps.

I have already clicked on show all hidden & system files. So to be honest I am stumped. Seems the issue is only with some of the programs though - I have been testing each & every link I had. SO it may not be as bad as I had 1st envisaged. Worst case scenario I will just re-install just those files.

The link above for ice mirror does not work

Ice Mirror is now @ the following link : http://www.ice-graphics.com/ICEMirror/DownloadE.html

THANKS again everyone. Nice to always know we have aximsite members available who will help!

Most programs can't just be copied over and run without having it re-installed because of registry entries needed to run the program.

Some older programs can't run on the newer WM5 and will give that message. Same for certain "liberated" versions of programs.

You'll just have to reinstall.
