MP3's scrambled-must reformat SD card
I have an AXIM 51V and a RIDATA 166X 2 GIG SD card. The card is formatted FAT32.
I took some "learn spanish" CD's and turned them into MP3's. I then copied those MP3's (a few hundred megabytes worth) from my laptop to my SD card via a (cheap) reader connected to the laptop via USB2.
The Spanish language MP3's played perfectly for hours and hours.
I then copied about one gigabyte of music MP3s, which play well on my laptop
I look on the SD card and the files and folders have all sorts of weird symbols, letter combinations, etc.
I cannot access the card.
I then reformatted the card and started over.
The same thing happened three or four times.
Then, the computer would not even recognize the card at all.....it would not even let me FORMAT the card.
After some concern that the card was ruined, I finally "tricked" the laptop into preparing to format a different SD card, then at the last second, put the RIDATA card in. It then successfully reformatted the card.
I then loaded the MP3's back on.
The same symbols appeared and again it would not e ven recognize that the card existed at all and I couldn't format it. I then "tricked it" again.
But this time, I didn't load the MP3's back onto the card.
SOOOOO--
Is this:
1) a bad SD card?
2)a bad card reader?
3) a problem with the MP3 music files
4) the hard drive on the laptop is formatted with NTFS?
OKAY, I have NO IDEA why this keeps happening. Anyone out there have any ideas? I'd like to be able to use this card......
Thanks,
