Battery critical low error message as soon as removing from the cradle..X51V

Hey guys. I've been reading/searching alot lately, and decided to make a new account to be able to post. I did not find an answer to my problem, so although I hope someone has the fix, I also hope I didn't miss the post..
Anyways...

I contacted Dell and they sent me a replacement battery for my X51V... I recieved the replacement battery and guess what? Same problem.

I've got a 2 week old X51v that does the following:
It will work great as long as it's on a charger or cradle. The absolute SECOND that I unplug the charger or a/c source, it brings up a "Main Battery is critical low, system will enter sleep mode in 10 seconds". Now I did the active sync fix, the A6 rom update, and everything I can think of. The battery level shows charging but only 0%. earlier today it showed 7%, but did the exact same thing. I have also experienced several WSOD's, and had to do numereous hard resets since I got it.

I don't want to send it to Dell, any ideas?
Thanks!!

try charging just the battery, remove it from the unit and place it in the back of the cradle a light shoud turn on, when its fully chared - an hour or so- the light should turn off, equip the battery and try...

thanks..

I tried that, and the battery got a full charge, but it's still doing the same thing again. I even took the battery out and put it in another axim, working great.. this one just keeps giving battery errors. Works great on a/c power though..

could it be software related though?

i'm having much the same problem with mine.

my company bought this for me last week and at first it was great. everything worked fine.

but today i have noticed that the battery meter shows that no charge is in the battery and the critical battery warning pops up if i unplug it from the mains.

i've also done the activesync fake server fix as i have noticed that the battery was becoming discharged whilt not in use.

i know the battery is fully charged as i had it on charge all night and when i went to sleep the LED was orange, now it is green. i'm very confused. :rolling:

how about contacting dell to replace the whole unit? If replacing the battery does not solve the problem, maybe it has something to do with the unit itself. If I'm not mistaken, dell should bring a replacement unit to you so you do not have to send it in.

Check the seating of the battery and make sure the cover is on firmly. There have been reports of a certain contact point not making full contact, so the Axim thinks there's no battery in the case. Some folks have modified theres in certain ways to make it touch. If you don't want to, best to get it replaced then.

I would make Dell exchange the unit. You might not want to, but looks like its the only thing you can do.

i wouldn't mess about with the internal contacts etc. just incase you invalidate your warranty.
