X51V keeps playing the synched sound

I have applied the "Fake Server" hack to my X51v so that it doesn't lose the CF card all the time. Presumably when you apply this your Synchs are manual and not occurring every few minutes. For some reason when I have my X51v in its cradle it makes the "synch" sound every 5-10 minutes although it does not appear to be synching. Is this supposed to happen? It appears to happen even if the device is turned off - it turns it on.

It is very annoying when you are trying to sleep.

You can put a blank .wav file in the /windows folder. Then go to start, settings, sounds. Change the activesync sound to the blank wav file. This is a temporary fix.

If the device is in the cradle, and if the cradle is connected to the USB port, and if the computer is turned on - then, yes, it will try to sync every few moments.

You can always stop one of the IF's and it wont try to connect and so it wont make the sound.

I have set the fake server as well and verified that the server setting is manual. I still get the device trying to sync every few minutes. Is there something else to do instead of blank sounds. As a newbie, I don't understand the "IFs" reference.

Yes, on your desktop go to network connections and disable the windows mobile network connection. Your axim will stop syncing until you enable that connection.

I have the same problem. I even have a real exchange server and have set everything to manual but it continues to sync. It must be something that I have missed on the Today page or something. if the sound bothers you, you could always mute it when you don't want to hear it. There have been other people who have reported that the exchange server trick, real or fake, has not stopped this so we are not alone.
