need to reinstall a06? also wsod troubles.

when I do a hard reset, do I need to reinstall A06 or is that automatic once youve done it once?

I'm also having a lot of problems with WSOD and battery drain. I have my Axim X51v set to turn off after 3 minutes of not using but it still drains to nothing overnight if I leave it out. Does the wifi keep it on somehow? could my SD card somehow be to blame?

Lastly, whenever I resume my axim from standby, the screen comes up right away but there's a 10-15 second hang where I can't do anything (literally) before the axim will respond. Ideas?

I've done the fake server trick.

Thanks!

As for your battery drain, check out this link:

ActiveSync may be draining your battery as it runs.

As for your other question, what do you mean "when you do a hard reset"? To my understanding, a hard reset is like turning your PC off and back on again, rather than having it hibernate. I just upgraded my A01 to A06 today, and after the program ran, I had to do a hard reset, but not since then.

I meant if I had to do another hard reset for whatever reason, does the ROM stay A06 or does it revert to A01?

It will stay at A06. ROM upgrades completely overwrite the previous version.

By the way, a soft reset is more like a cold boot. It just cuts the power, and restarts the device. A hard reset is like reformatting your computer, but then installing an OS from scratch. All of your programs, and anything stored on the device ROM will be ereased, like it was brand new from the factory.

big difference ... if you don't know ... here's what happened:

a "soft-reset" is like a reboot ... it won't wipe out your info & programs ... etc

(just poke the hole at the back of the device)

~~~
a "hard-reset" .. will restore it to factory settings .... anything you'd installed after that ... once hard-reset ... it will be gone !!!
(same as above ... only this time ... you have to hold down the power button along with the above ... handle with care !!)
to recap:
Hibernate ... is "standby mode" ( settings are within "power" options ... and not the same as FULLY OFF )
soft reset is like a reboot .... fresh RAM ... run peppier ... etc ...
hard reset wipes out everything and put it back to factory default !!!!
the ROM will still be as A06 ... but once hard reset ... it is fresh like you'd just received it .. ( with only difference is the new ROM )
you would have to performs all the tweaks allover again !!! :)
