I am a newbee. I have installed just a few programs over the past week and already my axim is acting slow.
I am using battery pro, journal bar, ewallet, avant go, pocket music, and some medical applications.
Battery pro and journal bar and ewallet are in main memory. Rest all in sd. Do u guys think I need to install all in my sd card rather than the main meory of the dell axim.
I still get confused regarding memory allocation.
I was thinking of buying the pocket breeze but dont want to overburden my axim processor. I am not a real heavy user.
Also do u guys find journal bar very useful. I like it but find the 30 bucks to be on the higher side.
Thanks guys.
Make sure your processor is turned up to max performance to increase speed. Also installing to the sd is a good idea.
Remember, the axim is not like your desktop pc. It is a small device and can be a lot slower.
Also, wm5 is still kind of buggy.
Turn off error reporting.

Thanks,
I just maxed the processor. It was running at 200 odd. I hope running at 624 now will make a big jump.
Tuned off error reporting too.
So, you recommend installing everything in sd cards?
Thanks..
In my opinion, you don't have to install every single thing in your SD. There is plenty of storage memory on your x51v. You have nearly 200mb worth of storage. Maybe you can install the big programs such as dictionaries and games on your SD. Leave maybe like 80-100mb on your x51v and you should be more than comfortable.

Yeah, I've all my programs in the rom too, no slow down problems. Might be your software problems? I think I read somewhere that batt pro ain't so good but don't quote me on this. Maybe they fixed a lot of stuff on the new version. I use pocketplus myself...
Is there any software we can use to benchmark the speed of the Axim ? I feel my Axim X51v is so slow (relative to lower specs iMate and ETEN PPCs) and would like to compare to the rest of you.
The X51v uses WM5 so you can't benchmark it against a PPC that is using WM2003SE. The results wouldn't be right as far as I know. Wonder if they released a new benchmark software that allows this to be done?
